Ace-Deuce – The roll 3 craps.

Aces – The roll 2 craps.

Across – The bet on all the boxed numbers—4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10—at the back of the game layout.  The player may choose to include or exclude the point number.

Any Craps – A proposition bet that wins on 2, 3, or 12.  This is a one-roll bet.

Back Up – Making the odds bet. Term is derived from the fact that an odds bet is placed behind its pass line bet.

Boxcars – The roll 12 craps.

Buy Bet – A bet similar to a place bet except that the player opts to pay a 5 percent commission, or vigorish, in order to receive true odds as payment instead of place bet odds. Buy bets are usually placed on the 4 and 10. For example, a $100 buy bet on the 10 will cost the player $5 to make and it will pay 2 to 1, or $200, if the 10 rolls before the 7.

Buy In – The money used to purchase gaming chips or the act of purchasing chips.

C&E – Common proposition split bet in which the money is divided equally between 11 and the bet Any Craps. This is a one-roll bet.

Call Bet – A bet that a player makes verbally without showing any money or chips. The craps game specifies in writing “No Call Bets.”

Check – Industry term for chip.

Chip – A token used on the game to represent money.

Come – Large betting areas on both sides of the game layout located between the fields and the boxed numbers. Come bets function exactly like pass line bets. Come bets allow players to continue playing a come out after a point has been established for the pass line.

Come Out Roll – Any roll that takes place during the come out phase when a point number is not established.

Coming Out – The phase of the game in which a point number—4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10—has not been established. Coming out ends as soon as a point number is rolled.

Craps – The collective term for 2, 3, and 12.

Degenerate – A person completely lost to gambling addiction.

Don’t Come – Small betting areas at the back of the game layout next to the boxed numbers. Don’t come bets function exactly like don’t pass line bets. Don’t come bets allow players to continue playing a come out after a point has been established for the don’t pass line.

Don’t Pass Line – The betting area adjacent to the pass line. The don’t pass line wins during the come out roll on 2 or 3; pushes on 12; loses on 7 or 11. After a point number is established, the don’t pass line wins if the 7 rolls before the point number rolls again. Loss occurs if the point number repeats before the 7. Bets on the don’t pass line may be removed by the player at any time. However, the don’t pass line cannot be bet after the establishment of a point number.

Downtown Payoffs – Slightly more generous payoff variations given on bets in the proposition box and the field by casinos in downtown Las Vegas and other locations. Each casino operation determines the type of payoffs offered.
